24 Hours Alone

Nate and I came home a few hours ago from a little more than 24 uninterrupted hours from children. (Thank you Katie and my parents for that little luxury). What a dream. We were originally going to a scooter rally in KC, but when things didn't work out there, we took a get-away Omaha style. What would you do with time to wander and a small budget?

Here is what we did:

1. Lunch at Subway & snack at Pettit's Pastry's
2. Early Hotel Check-in
3. Visit to Hot Shops to see some super creative friends
(Thanks for the inspiration Amy!)
4. Spontaneous walk-in to view the new space at Alley Poyner
(Thanks for the lovely tour Laura)
5. HBO Movie lounging in our hotel King sized bed
6. Killing time in the Jackson Street Gallery before dinner
7. Dinner at M's (a piece of heaven)
8. A walk through Nouvelle Eve for fashion inspiration
9. A waffle cone for Nate from Ted & Wally's
10. A soak in the hotel hot tub and quick swim
11. Shower and bed (Ahhh)
12. Wake-up for me at 7:30ish (sleepin'-in a little)
13. Unlimited time to shower, have coffee, get ready
14. Continental hotel breakfast in the lobby with a flip through Real Simple
and a few pages in 'Julie & Julia' while Nate watched 'Dirty Jobs' on TV upstairs in bed
15. A quick trip to Target for a jacket on clearance because I didn't pack anything warm enough
16. An egg/bacon/bagel from Bruegger's for Nate
17. Two hours wandering through the new sculpture garden and galleries of Joslyn
18. Split a patty melt and fries at Goldberg's
19. A quick trip back to Target to return the jacket which 3 buttons fell off-of in 3 hours
20. Star Trek at the Movie Theater

#19 cracks me up. michael bought a similar jacket once, and within a few days i was re-sewing all of the buttons back on. grr. i hate it when that happens.

all that to say, your 24 hours alone sounds FANTASTIC. michael & i are trying to plan 10 hours stay-cationing here for our anniversary this weekend. you gave me lots of inspiration. budget friendly, too! glad you had fun. what a treat!
